Brighter Days Grief Center

Free resources for families including financial support for families in grief, Camp Erin children’s grief support, grief groups, and short-term one-on-one counseling with licensed professionals.

Healing Hearts Connection

Free family-oriented grief camps where adult grievers from all walks of life are welcome to attend independently or with a loved one. Healing Hearts Connection allows participants to define what/who family means to them. Parallel programming allows kids as young as five years old to experience grief support and education that mirrors the support that parents have as they attend this overnight camp where hearts find hope.

Family Means Center for Grief and Loss

The Center for Grief & Loss offers specialized therapy for complicated grief, trauma, and life transitions. They serve individuals, couples, and families, in addition to providing group therapy. Take a look at their brochure for more information.

Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) Foundation

The SUDC Foundation is the only organization worldwide whose purpose is to raise awareness, fund research, and serve those affected by SUDC. This organization provides services at no costs to the people it serves. Support includes advocacy, peer mentorship, retreats, memorial planning, and more.

Dr. Gretchen Schmelzer, Trauma Expert/Writer

Dr. Schmelzer is a psychologist and writer who adeptly helps trauma survivors acknowledge the unique challenges of growing through significant hardship. She writes on parenting, as an evolving person, and helps us find the permission to honor our journey while giving permission to grow slowly.

Child Mind Institute: Family Resource Center

This site has insightful research-based articles that empower and support parents (and youth) to navigate the difficult and at times unpredictable developmental milestones of life in our current age.

Minnesota Mobile Mental Health Crisis Response Teams (by county)

These FREE mobile crisis services are teams of mental health professionals and practitioners who provide psychiatric services to individuals within their own homes and at other sites outside the traditional clinical setting. Mobile crisis services provide for a rapid response and will work to assess the individual, resolve crisis situations, and link people to needed services.

NOTE: In recent news, Ramsey county residents have been sent bills for use of this service. Ramsey county has provided a statement on this matter and noted that it will be updating its policies and procedures to provide clarity of any fee for use of this service. Insurance is billed for this service when able, however, if there is a concern around cost they offer sliding scale fees and support services to ensure care can be delivered.

National Suicide or Crisis Lifeline: 9-8-8

If experiencing an immediate mental health emergency, clients are encouraged to call 9-1-1 for emergency medical support, including police or ambulance request, or to visit the nearest emergency room for care.

For clients, children or adults, that are seeking immediate mental health intervention 9-8-8 is an option for suicide or crisis support that can be contacted by phone or text message. No identifying information is required, and support staff can help de-escalate, listen, and if needed connect you to other emergency supports.

WalkIn.Org - Free Counseling Services (virtually or in-person in Minneapolis)

Short-term counseling services are completely free and anonymous, with no appointment needed. The clinic is currently offers in-person support, too. All of our professional counselors volunteer their time to help ensure clients have access to the support they need.
